Extreme Dieting is a Lost Cause

Much has been written about dieting that leaves me wondering if everything that could possibly be written has already been written. It is possible but maybe it has but the odds are you haven’t read everything and neither have I. Although plenty information is available about weight loss the most important information are the ones that apply to you as you attempt to diet successfully.

In this article I will announce a type of mentality that some people have that sets them up for failure even before they get started. Read more to find out if this mindset pertains to you. Individuals who have an all or nothing state of mind generally select a difficult diet plan that is almost impossible to achieve.

Before they start they throw out all the junk food or even food that is good if it doesn’t fit into their weight loss strategy . They have the mentality that their diet will be perfect without mistakes or failure. Perhaps a day, week or month goes by and so far everything is OK.

Then a strange thing happens. They mess up and eat something they shouldn’t have as part of the diet plan. As far as they are concerned the diet is over. Experiencing despair over their mistake they reward their disappointment by binging on comfort foodsonly further destroying any last hopes of saving what might have been a successful diet. Before you know it they are regaining weight they lost and sometimes adding more to it.

Are you this kind of dieter? If it is then you need to ask yourself why you allow yourself to fall into this self-defeating trap. How much do you want to lose weight? Are you just interested in losing a little weight and regaining them back now and then or do you truly want to lose weight and keep it off ? Rather than having an “all or nothing attitude ” it’s better to make smaller changes in the way you eat than to go on a very strict diet that is nearly impossible to keep. With small yet healthy changes you can lose pounds much slower but still have a better chance of achieving permanent weight loss. To get more help go here for dieting success.
