This is the main point of using a reformer, as you grow stronger and stronger, the reformer can be set to help you less and less.
After every reformer session, you will be stronger, your muscles longer and leaner, with the pilates reformer, you are supported from complete beginner right the way through to advanced expert. It is to my knowledge impossible to grow out of a reformer, you will have a very enjoyable exercise, you will be able to use for the rest of your life.
